About Us
At Stephen Dental, our goal is to provide modern dentistry in a comfortable and personable atmosphere fast becoming a memory in the dental profession today. Our friendly and relaxing practice is staffed by folks who love their work. The reason that's possible is that we truly have the nicest patients in Houston, and they become part of our family. We hope you will notice a difference in our office because we don’t strive to be like other practices.
Our aim is not to be a large-volume practice, just one that offers the highest quality with a personal touch and absolutely no sales pressure. When you first walk through our door, you will immediately sense your significance to our dental home. Your comfort is our first concern, and because we also respect your time, we don’t double-book our appointments. Our doctors listen to learn what matters most to you and then partner with you in making decisions about your care. You can know with confidence that any recommendations will reflect the same treatment they would provide for their own wives, parents, sons, daughters, and grandchildren. Our service to the Champions/1960 area of Houston for over 30 years has allowed us the opportunity and priviledge to develop strong working relationships with some of the top specialists in Texas.
When a referral is necessary, we can direct you with confidence to the best of the best in their area of specialization knowing for certain that your personalized and high standard of care will go uninterrupted. Communication between the doctors is strong, allowing for effective and efficient collaboration and excellent results.

Dr. Bob Stephen (Dr. Bob)
Dr. Bob is a native Houstonian, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Abilene Christian University in 1982. He attended the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston where, in 1986, he earned his DDS degree and joined his father, Dr. James Stephen, in family practice and has been serving patients in the area ever since. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the local dental associations, and was recently honored as a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry. In addition to his dental career, Dr. Bob serves as an elder at Bammel Church of Christ, and he and his dad have both participated in mission work in Honduras. -
Dr. James Stephen (Dr. James)
Dr. James Stephen (Dr. James), also a homegrown Texan, grew up in Corpus Christi. Like his son, Dr. James earned his DDS degree from UTDB and has been practicing in the Houston area for more than fifty years. His first practice was in Katy, which he later moved inside Loop 610. When the practice relocated to the Champions area in 1978, many if not most of his patients followed him. Lately, Dr. James and Irmgard are spending increasingly more time with their 9 grandchildren. Dr. James also teaches 2nd grade Bible class at his church (also Bammel Church of Christ), and the students at Haude Elementary in Klein especially enjoy hearing the stories he reads to them when he volunteers. -
Donna Stephen
Donna Stephen, born in Texas but raised in Colorado, met Dr. Bob at Abilene Christian University where she earned a degree in communication disorders. They were married in 1982, and then after a 24 year career as a teacher and speech/language pathologist Donna left education to join the family business as the office manager. She is happy that she made the move and looking back, she wonders why she waited so long! Whenever they can, Donna and Dr. Bob enjoy time with friends and family, including their two grown sons and daughter-in-law. -
Irmgard Stephen
Irmgard Stephen, Dr. James' wife, was born in Germany. She moved to the United States in 1952 where she met Dr. James and fell in love. They were married in 1957. Irmgard developed an immediate interest in dentistry and has had training in all phases of the practice. She has always said that what she likes most about working up at the office is visiting with the patients. Our more established patients love Irmgard and miss seeing her every time they come in now that she's not keeping regular office hours. Although she enjoys time to travel and do other favorite things, Irmgard still comes in one morning each week to pay bills and catch up with a few friends, old and new. -
